Bösendorfer (c1950s) 'The Backhaus Bösendorfer' A 5ft 7in Model 170 grand piano in an ebonised case on square tapered legs. Originally played exclusively by Wilhelm Backhaus it was later used as the rehearsal piano for over fifty opera recordings, starting with the legendary Solti DECCA 'Ring', and later for recordings by Herbert von Karajan and Leonard Bernstein. The piano has been signed by Leonard Bernstein, Georg Solti, Wilhelm Backhaus, Andras Schiff and Maria Joao Pires.

Broadwood Forte Grand Piano (c1808) A 7ft 6in forte-grand bearing the label John Broadwood & Son, Makers to His Majesty & The Princesses, Great Poultney Street, Golden Square, London; with a compass of 5 1/2 octaves; the mahogany inlaid case with ebony stringing and cross-grained borders on a trestle stand. This instrument was the property of Benjamin Britten Esq. until 1962 when it was sold in auction at Christie's.
