Awaiting Ivory Registration: PWTPQREY

Condition Report:

LOT 66 – STEINWAY GRAND

Casework: Is a fruitwood case that was formerly ebonised and is in good general condition. It looks as if it has been re-polished at some point in the recent past. There is a fault with the fall – the fall will not stay up and this will need attention.

Frame, Pins, Strings and Soundboard:  Are generally acceptable but there are splits to the soundboard and there is contamination on the damper bodies themselves, which suggests a little damp.

Hammers and Action:  The action likewise, is in good order but there are signs of damp.

Keys and Keyboard:  Is ivory – there are two keytops missing – the rest are in good order.

General Notes:  Please note:  There is a little damage to the fall also – there is a piece missing, which is currently with the piano, and this will need to be either re-glued or repaired.

This report is based on a cursory examination and is our opinion only.  It does not constitute a guarantee and potential buyers should satisfy themselves about the lot before bidding.
