Lot 118 - Blüthner (c1925) - | Est. £1,500 - £2,000

£1,500.00

A 5ft 8in grand piano in an ebonised case on square tapered legs.

Ivory Registration Number: BCD92CYC

Condition Report:

LOT 118 – BLÜTHNER GRAND

Casework:  Is generally good.  There are one or two scratches but nothing of any consequence.

Frame and Soundboard:  Are dusty.  The soundboard has the beginnings of a split above the transfer, but this is having no bearing on sound and will not prove troublesome for many years to come.  The pins and stringing look good.  The bass strings are clean, as are the treble strings, and this suggests that this has had work done in the recent past.  There has been presence of moth on certain parts of the piano’s bearing cloth and this will need to be factored in.

Keys and Keyboard:  Is ivory – some keys are yellowed, some are not, but the overall condition is acceptable.

Hammers and Action:  Are of the roller variety and look to be in good condition.  The hammers could do with a re-shaping – they are slightly squared.  There are one or two dampers which are holding up – most are not and this will need to be investigated.  So just to clarify, there are one or two notes that are partially ringing on.

General Notes:  This is a nice piano that just needs a good clean.

This report is based on a cursory examination and is our opinion only.  It does not constitute a guarantee and potential buyers should satisfy themselves about the lot before bidding.
