Piano teachers often recommend that their pupils should have a Yamaha Model U1 or U3. 

May not be a household name but it was arguably the finest piano manufacturer in Denmark.  We were lucky to have a completely restored 6ft 6in c1919 art cased grand in our sale of the 20th September 2018.

Which is a cross between a tiny grand piano and a harpsichord!  With a single string per note and only 4ft long this wonderful bit of Danish design converts from a delicate piano sound to a harpsichord sound.

Yamaha grand pianos are known for offering great reliability and are always popular in our auctions.  In our 5th July 2018 Auction Sale we had nine models with sizes from the 4ft 11in GB1 to the ever popular 6ft 1in C3 and prices ranging from £2,500 – 7,000.

Schimmel is amongst the top brand names when it comes to pianos. The Company established in 1885 has always been synonymous with quality and recently we have noticed that they are becoming highly sought after in our auctions.

What makes this one of the most exciting instruments we have recently offered is a wonderful combination: being a Steinway, being a Model B, being in a Louis XVI art case and having been completely renovated!

Rarely comes the opportunity  to own a recent Bösendorfer Imperial concert grand at a fraction of the price of a new one.  In our Spring sale on the 12th April 2018 we were lucky enough  to be offering such an instrument. 

France is synonymous with the idea of good style and elegance particularly when it comes to furniture and the arts.  In the early part of the 20th century the piano company Erard, produced a limited number of graceful grands for their discerning clients. 

Occasionally we get offered a picture for auction and if it seems relevant we are always happy to sell them.  In our auction sale of the 12th April 2018 we were offering ‘The Music Room’, which depicts a Steinway grand piano with other instruments scattered around, which certainly seemed a welcome addition to such a setting.

Is an historically significant Arts and Crafts upright piano designed by the designer M.H. Baillie Scott. They were known as the "Manxman" model and were part of the Cottage Upright Piano Collection of Broadwood & Sons.

Piano Auctions Ltd in association with the Canterbury Auction Galleries are pleased to announce an auction of the instruments in the Colt Clavier Collection on Thursday the 7th June 2018.

The iconic brand of Steinway will grace any home and excite any pianist.  Believe it or not, we had an amazing 37 Steinway upright and grand pianos, which sold from a relatively cheap upright for £1,200 to a beautiful Model B in a Louis XVI style case for £20,000.

One cannot imagine how much it would cost nowadays to produce the case of this Lipp grand.  With its intricate parquetry inlaid top and ormolu mounts, it is truly a work of art!  We were pleased to be selling this piano in our auction sale of the 14th December 2017.

I have long been an avid admirer of the more recent Grotrian pianos, partly because of the absolute control you get whilst playing pianissimo passages.
